For all you fans of snow activities (Ski / Snowboards and more) I just found out of this “smarty pants” website from The Weather Network.

The Ski Report. Including obviously the weater, the number of lifts open, the number of runs open, the snow depth and the snow in the past 24 hrs.

Here are a few links of the resorts I like (ordered by distance from Calgary):

The power of iTunes + Internet

November 16, 2008

First myth about iTunes is that you will only use if you have and iPod…FALSE! I run iTunes in my computer…and I have probably used an iPod couple times in my life!

The use I give to iTunes? PODCASTS! They’re free and very intersesting. You could not imagine the number of different  sections, from World News, to yoga, including everything in between (sex, hobbies, etc.). So basically you can get either Video or Audio. I like video for mostly of the stuff…but world news and other things are alright if they come as Audio.

How to get it running?

1) Download it from Apple.ca, and install (should be pretty easy).

2)Set up an account for the iTunes Store, so you have access to the listing of PODCASTS.

3)Enjoy the iTunes Store + Podcasts!

3 tips to consider when buying a used car

November 16, 2008

I need to buy a used car…and I have been doing some research on websites that can be really helpful at the moment of make the final decision.

Tip #1 Free ads websites

Free ads websites have really valuable offers. I have been in love with http://calgary.kijiji.ca, the cars or SUV section is definitely a must see. Other website is the well known http://calgary.craigslist.org and its section cars+trucks. Finally and a bit behind the classic http://www.autotrader.ca.

The first website (Kijiji) has worked best for me, I can define my price range, and nowadays for me MONEY is what will make the final decision. The second one (craigslist) did not work that well for me…there is lots of offers, but some of them are way higher of what I could afford ($30,000+), so not very helpful…but still a good resource that you must check before buying anything. About this two mentioned websites, the very good thing is that dealers have not put their fingers to deep in to them…what makes all the offers GST free, and you are probably getting the best value for your MONEY. The third website (AutoTrader) is a classic for most of the people, it is definitely the one with more options (Year range, Price Range, Kms/Miles Range, etc.) but there are so many dealers in to it…that the cars listed are not the best deals in town.

Tip #2 Reviews!

Revies are the best advice you can possible get, you could be lucky having a really close mechanic to help you out, but if that is not the case you should definitely look into reviews. And I know…they turn into very long descriptions and particular cases…but if you are about to spend a decent amount of money worth 10+ months of savings…think about it…it must be worth it to spend 45 mins reading reviews.

For reviews I trust 100% http://carsurvey.org, a north-american (includes Canada and the USA) website, with tons of reviews! You search, first for Make, then for Model and finally for year. You will be either amazed or overwhelmed with the amount of information available there.

Tip #3 Fuel Economy

I have used uppercase for this word…MONEY…prices of gas according to everybody are going to go higher…and higher…and there is an incredible website that will let you know every, yes every, Car / SUV gas consumption (Mileage), for every model, for almost the last 30 years. I am talking about http://www.fueleconomy.gov, I suspect it is an American Government managed website…and really, really helpful. In the section Find a car you search for the Year first, then Make and finally the Model. You can switch units from MPG to L/100KMS whatever is easier for you to understand.

Well I am still searching for the best value for my MONEY and a ride that will last me at least 4 years with not too many problems (MONEY) to be fixed!
